America Recycles Day, a program of Keep America Beautiful, is a nationally recognized day dedicated to promoting and celebrating recycling in the United States. Help the environment by recycling

Did you know????

The aluminum cans recycled in 2011, stacked one on top of the other, would be more than 137 million times taller than Disney’s Space Mountain.

In 2011, Americans threw away 11.1 million tons of steel. That amounts to more than $3 billion in wasted material, or enough to buy lunch for everyone in the United States!

Recycling one glass bottle saves enough energy to power a television for 20 minutes. That’s a whole episode of your favorite show if you don’t count the commercials!

In 2011, Americans trashed enough paper to cover 22,000 football fields in paper three feet deep.

The amount of plastic bottles recycled in 2011 provided enough raw material for about 7 million extra large t-shirts to be made.
